The important causes of aortic regurgitation in pregnant young womeil are rheumatic, congenital bicuspid valve, previous endocarditis or due to dilated aortic annulus.Aortic regurgitation is usually well tolerated during pregnancy, probably because of reduced systemic vascular resistance and increased heart rate that occurs in pregnancy. Increased heart rate shortens the diastole and thus regurgitant volume. In symptomatic patients, digoxin, diuretics, l~ydralazine can be safely used.
